Brian Bruney was traded to the Washington Nationals early this week in exchange for a player to be named from the Nats. Early last season, Bruney was to be one of Rivera’s set up pitchers, but after being on the disabled list, twice throughout the year, and the Yankees trying to lower their payroll, someone had to go.
“In 44 regular-season appearances, Bruney was 5-0 with a 3.92 ERA,
limiting opponents to a .243 batting average. In 39 innings, he allowed
36 hits and 17 runs while striking out 36 and walking 23, and he could
move into a closing role with the Nats.” He is obviously a great pitcher and I am curious as to who the player will be in return. The Yankees may get the Nats draft pick.
Pettitte has been undecided about whether or not to return to the Yankees. Well, after winning the 2009 World Series, winning the last game of all three series, I can’t give him crap if he doesn’t come back, one can’t do much better. Well, the 37, LHP has decided he would like to continue pitching next season. Well, Fantastic. Pettitte and the Yankees will decide contract terms soon.
